Ghanaian writer and poet Peggy Kere Osman, who writes under the pen name Selah, has had her short story proposal selected for the upcoming Applied African Speculative Fiction: Volume 2 anthology.
Her selected story, Adam’s Apple, is an Afrofuturist science-fiction story exploring AI governance, agribusiness, land rights and migrant labour.
As part of the project, Osman will be paired with Dr. Elvis Cao, an Assistant Professor at Imperial College London, whose expertise includes sustainable AI infrastructure and engineering systems for agriculture.
The anthology focuses on the future of work in the age of artificial intelligence, bringing African and diasporic fiction writers into collaboration with researchers and practitioners working in AI and technology.
Osman is a Ghanaian poet and author from Northern Ghana whose work explores human relationships, emotions, love, grief and growth. Her published collections include Portrait of a Blue Sun and Monarch Butterflies Over My Head.
She has also previously participated as a resident writer in the Wandering Imaginations project, a sci-fi Afrofuturism initiative by Bradford UK City of Culture 2025 and Writers Project of Ghana.
