Mieke Turkson (writer), Maame Adjei (producer), Elvis Damptey (producer), Nana Kofi Asihene (writer-producer), Lawrencia Aphua Larbi-Amoah (producer-director), Fidaus Suleman (Producer) and Majeed Suhuyini (writer), have been selected to take part in Serial Bridges Accra, the first African edition of the international television series development programme created by Series Mania Institute.
The programme brings seven writer-producer teams from across West Africa together for an intensive week of series development, mentorship and industry engagement.
The Ghanaian projects selected are A Game of Truth, a crime thriller about six university students who attempt to cover up a death; When We Were We, which explores power and privilege through a prestigious Ghanaian school; Whispers of Harmattan, a supernatural mystery about a journalist who returns home for his father's funeral and discovers an ancient secret protecting his village; and IN-BETWEEN, a workplace comedy-drama set in a trendy advertising agency
Serial Bridges Accra runs from August 31 to September 4, 2026, and is led by The Writers Room Ghana in partnership with the Embassy of France in Ghana, Institut français, Création Africa Ghana and Series Mania Institute.
Participants will receive mentorship through group and individual sessions, alongside masterclasses with international television professionals.
Beyond story development, the programme will address the practical realities of taking African series to international audiences, including international co-production, co-financing and pitching to buyers and industry partners.
The programme will culminate in a pitching session on September 4, when all seven teams will present their projects to an invited audience of industry stakeholders.
One team will then be selected for the opportunity to attend Series Mania Forum 2027 in Lille, France, giving the winning filmmakers access to further market and industry meetings with international television professionals.
Serial Bridges has previously been held in cities including Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul, Tallinn and Almaty, with programmes also connecting series creators across East and Southeast Asia.
The Accra edition is being hosted at Akuna Pod, the creative and content hub in Accra founded by Idris Elba.
