Organisers of Pa Gya! A Literary Festival in Accra have announced an open call for participation as the festival prepares to celebrate its landmark 10th edition in October 2026.
The three-day literary arts festival will take place from October 16 to 18, 2026, at Goethe-Institut Ghana and the Foundation for Contemporary Art-Ghana in Cantonments, Accra. This year's edition will feature special commemorative programming to mark a decade of promoting literature, arts and cultural exchange in Ghana.
Since its inception in 2017, Pa Gya! has become one of Ghana's leading literary festivals, providing a platform for writers, publishers, artists, academics and readers to engage through discussions, performances, exhibitions and networking opportunities. The festival has also attracted participants and collaborators from across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada.
The festival is inviting organisations, literary groups, publishers, booksellers, independent authors, poets, performers, academics, journalists and cultural practitioners to submit proposals for this year's programme.
According to the organisers, nearly half of the festival's programming is traditionally generated through public submissions, making community participation a defining feature of the event.
Proposals are welcome for book launches, readings, panel discussions, talks, performances, exhibitions and other literary and cultural activities related to Ghana and beyond. Publishers and booksellers are also encouraged to apply for exhibition spaces at the festival's three-day book market, while literary organisations and book clubs are invited to host events during the festival.
The organisers are also seeking partnerships, sponsorships and collaborations with institutions and individuals interested in supporting the festival.
Interested participants are required to submit their proposals by August 10, 2026, via pagyafestival@gmail.com or info@writersprojectghana.com, using "Pa Gya! 2026 Proposal" as the email subject.
Applicants are encouraged to include a brief introduction, while writers should also provide a short biography and details of their published works where applicable.
For further enquiries, organisers can be reached via telephone or WhatsApp on 026 766 8890 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.
Updates on the festival are available on the Writers Project of Ghana's Facebook page and on X and Instagram via @writerspg.
