Elvis Damptey, an award-winning Ghanaian film producer, has announced the completion of principal photography for Independence, a new short film directed by Rete Poki and produced under Dreammark Collective.

The film features Jasperwills Ebuka, Jahdiel Simon, and Temidayo Akinboro as three siblings reunited after their father's funeral. As they sort through his belongings, unresolved tensions, buried memories, and long-standing grievances begin to emerge, forcing each of them to confront the gap between what they remember and what is true.
At its heart, Independence explores themes of nostalgia, grief, identity, and the often-complex process of reconciling memory with reality. Through an intimate family narrative, the film examines the emotional weight of loss and the lasting impact of the past on personal identity and relationships.

The project is directed by Poki from a screenplay co-written by Poki and Damptey. Damptey also serves as producer, while Riyo David is attached as associate producer.
Currently in post-production, the short film is being developed with a festival circuit strategy and is expected to be submitted to several international film festivals in the coming months.
Further details regarding the film’s festival appearances and public release plans are expected to be announced in due course.
