
Evangel-Leo-Ken Jnr Yorke Acquaye is a Ghanaian writer and poet whose work explores themes of identity, anguish, language, abuse, and empowerment. He is the founder and director of Dear Legachi Ghana, a nonprofit advocacy organization addressing issues such as child marriage, domestic violence, and sexual assault. He is also the co-founder of Rhetoric Orchestra, a creative community that supports artistic collaboration and dialogue. Through Creatives Project Ghana, he has hosted Unplug Accra, a creative retreat encouraging participants to disconnect from devices and reconnect through writing, dialogue, and creation. He also curated the book launch of Yeayi Kobina’s A Weaving of the First Gods: Daughters of Dust. Evangel-Leo-Ken Jnr is the curator of the New Voices Poetry Contest Anthology, and his work has appeared in Isele Magazine, Nenta Literary Journal, and elsewhere. He was also shortlisted for the Adinkra Poetry Prize. As a spoken word performer, he has appeared on respected platforms such as the Goethe LitLounge, Ehalakasa Goethe Abansoro, and the ETS Drama Studio for Don’t Let This Become Public II, a conceptualized protest-performance set in a tightly-knit country; and designed to navigate nuances of societal norms and was an opening act for Back2Back Poetry II at Ghana’s National Theatre. In partnership with organizations including Yekan, Taskwit, CrowdPen, Child-In-Tech, Learn with Lenz, the JSM Initiative, CPG, Nadeli, and the Global Writers Project, he led the launch of Project Spectra — a multi-pronged intervention for public school students. The initiative reached 265 children, with targeted workshops in filmmaking for girls, writing and storytelling, painting, STEM education, and mobile library programs. Evangel-Leo-Ken Jnr has a strong foundation in law and advocacy, which informs his approach to youth-focused programming and creative leadership. He currently serves as a proofreader for The Hummingbird Journal, is an ambassador for Youths & Rights International, and has experience in project management, editorial work, and literary curation. He is also pursuing a dual path that integrates healthcare and legal practice.
